Alloy steel
why carbon steel ?
At Contorc Industries, we supply high-quality carbon steel raw materials widely used across engineering, fabrication, construction, and industrial manufacturing sectors. Carbon steel is primarily composed of iron and carbon, offering excellent strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness, making it one of the most commonly used materials in modern industry.
Depending on carbon content, it is classified into low carbon steel, medium carbon steel, and high carbon steel, each offering different levels of hardness, machinability, and wear resistance. This versatility allows carbon steel to be used in applications ranging from structural frameworks and machinery parts to automotive components and heavy engineering equipment.
Carbon steel is extensively used in industries such as construction, automotive, oil & gas, infrastructure, fabrication, and general engineering, where strength and reliability are critical.
At Contorc Industries, we ensure the supply of premium carbon steel in various grades and forms, meeting diverse industrial requirements with consistent quality, strength, and performance.
types of carbon steel alloys
low carbon steel
At Contorc Industries, we supply high-quality low carbon steel (mild steel) used widely in fabrication, construction, and general engineering applications. It contains a low percentage of carbon, making it highly ductile, weldable, and easy to machine while maintaining good strength for structural use. Common grades include IS 2062 (E250/E350), ASTM A36, SAE 1018, and EN3B. It is widely used in structural frameworks, pipelines, automotive components, sheets, and general fabrication work. At Contorc Industries, we ensure reliable supply of low carbon steel in multiple grades and specifications for diverse industrial needs.
medium carbon steel
At Contorc Industries, we supply high-quality medium carbon steel used in a wide range of engineering and manufacturing applications. Medium carbon steel contains a balanced carbon content, offering a good combination of strength, hardness, and moderate ductility, making it suitable for components that require both toughness and wear resistance. It is commonly used in automotive parts, shafts, gears, axles, and forged components. Popular grades include EN8 (080M40), EN9, EN19, EN24 (817M40), and AISI 1040/1045. At Contorc Industries, we ensure reliable supply of medium carbon steel in various grades and specifications to meet the needs of automotive, heavy engineering, and industrial manufacturing sectors.
high carbon steel
At Contorc Industries, we supply high-quality high carbon steel used in applications that demand superior hardness, strength, and wear resistance. High carbon steel contains a higher percentage of carbon, making it less ductile but highly durable and suitable for heavy-duty performance under stress. It is widely used in cutting tools, springs, dies, knives, and high-strength wires. Common grades include AISI 1080, 1090, 1095, EN42, EN43, and SUP spring steel grades. At Contorc Industries, we ensure the supply of premium high carbon steel in multiple grades and specifications to support industries such as automotive, tooling, heavy engineering, and precision manufacturing.

manufacturing process
At Contorc Industries, carbon steel is produced through a controlled manufacturing process designed to achieve the right balance of strength, hardness, and machinability. The process begins with the selection of raw materials such as iron ore, coke, and limestone, along with recycled steel scrap. These materials are melted in a Blast Furnace or Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) at very high temperatures to produce molten iron/steel. The molten metal is then refined to remove impurities and adjust the carbon content to the required level for low, medium, or high carbon steel grades. After refining, the steel is cast into semi-finished forms such as billets, blooms, or slabs using continuous casting methods. These are then further processed through hot rolling or forging to achieve final shapes like bars, plates, sheets, and rods. Finally, the material undergoes heat treatment and quality testing to ensure proper mechanical properties and industry standards. At Contorc Industries, we ensure reliable sourcing of carbon steel materials manufactured through strict quality-controlled processes for use in automotive, construction, and heavy engineering industries.
